AOSA-SCST is an organization of member laboratories and professional seed technologists dedicated to education, research, proficiency, and the improvement of seed testing standards. Members include state, federal, university, private, and company laboratories and individual seed technologists throughout the United States and Canada.
Originally organized separately, AOSA and SCST each played an important role in advancing seed testing and technology across North America. The Association of Official Seed Analysts (AOSA) formally organized in Washington, D.C. in 1908, developing rules and procedures for seed testing and the standardization of their interpretation in conjunction with the Federal Seed Act.
The Society of Commercial Seed Technologists (SCST) originated in 1922, serving largely as a liaison between AOSA and the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA), while promoting research, proficiency, and improvement in seed testing within private and commercial laboratories.
Today, AOSA-SCST continues the shared mission of advancing seed science, testing, and technology through collaboration, education, and professional excellence.
